EBRAINS present with booth at Research to Reality 2024
More than 700 people attended the event over the course of two days. Participants had the chance to visit the EBRAINS booth and learn about how our research infrastructure supports brain science in Europe.
The event kicked off with an opening session, which included welcome remarks from Roberto Viola, Director General of DG CONNECT at the European Commission. During his presentation, Viola highlighted the need for Europe to regain its competitivity and unlock its full capabilities: “To be competitive, you need a thriving research ecosystem, you need data, you need algorithms... You need, what we call in our recent AI strategy, the AI Factories of the future."
Later in the event, during the 'Artificial Intelligence serving healthcare’ session, researcher Päivi Östling from the Karolinska Institute presented TEF-Health, an EBRAINS-supported project. The project aims to develop a reference testing and experimentation facility for AI and robotics-based solutions in the healthcare sector. “The take-home from TEF-Health today,” said Östling, “is that we should use this as a tool to learn how to generate data better from the start, and to find the sustainable models, and this is a transition needing all of the stakeholders in the field."
Other sessions in the programme covered a range of topics, including collaborative innovation and data governance in science. Discover the recordings of the presentations available on the Research to Reality website.
