EBRAINS-supported project selected for EIC Transition call for proposals
The EIC Transition scheme was set up to translate research results generated by EIC Pathfinder pilot projects and European Research Council (ERC) Proof of Concept projects into commercially viable entities, by testing the technologies in real world settings and creating the business case to bring the innovations to the market. The 42 selected projects will receive €99 million in EU funding altogether.
The PHRASE (Personalised Health cognitive assistance for RehAbilitation SystEm) project responded to the EIC Transition Medical Technologies and Devices challenge.
PHRASE will be validated with 1000 patients across 20 hospitals in Europe. The project seeks to do the following for stroke patients:
- Shorten hospital stay
- Reduce personnel and transportation costs
- Improve functional recovery and retention
Eodyne Systems will lead the project, with support from high-level partners in the field such as EBRAINS, Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin, and Saddlepoint Science Ltd.
About the European Innovation Council
The European Innovation Council was launched by the European Commission to support the commercialization of high-risk, high-impact technologies in the European Union. It focuses mainly on breakthrough, deeptech and disruptive innovation, targeting especially market-creating innovation.
About EIC Pathfinder projects
With its Pathfinder programme the EIC supports the exploration of bold ideas for radically new technologies. It welcomes the high-risk / high gain and interdisciplinary cutting-edge science collaborations that underpin technological breakthroughs.
About Eodyne Systems
Eodyne’s expertise is based on the development and integration of complex architectures of advanced interactive systems involving technologies for virtual and augmented reality, ambient and wearable sensors, robotics, machine perception, cognitive processes and user experience.
About EBRAINS
EBRAINS is a new digital research infrastructure (RI), created by the EU-funded Human Brain Project (HBP), to foster brain-related research and to help translate the latest scientific discoveries into innovation in medicine and industry, for the benefit of patients and society.
It draws on cutting-edge neuroscience and offers an extensive range of brain data sets, atlases, modelling and simulation tools, easy access to high-performance computing resources and to robotics and neuromorphic platforms.
All academic researchers have open access to EBRAINS’ state-of-the art services. Industry researchers are also very welcome to use the platform under specific agreements. For more information about EBRAINS, please contact us at info@ebrains.eu or visit https://ebrains.eu/
EBRAINS is listed on the ESFRI roadmap
About the Human Brain Project
The Human Brain Project (HBP) is the largest brain science project in Europe and stands among the biggest research projects ever funded by the European Union. It is one of the three FET Flagship Projects of the EU. At the interface of neuroscience and information technology, the HBP investigates the brain and its diseases with the help of highly advanced methods from computing, neuroinformatics and artificial intelligence and drives innovation in fields like brain-inspired computing and neurorobotics.
