Innovation and Technology Transfer Coordination Centre
The Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) has vast experience in coordinating the commercial and non-commercial exploitation of neuroscientific tools and services through the EBRAINS infrastructure. In the LSPs context, this work implies putting in place a transversal action across the National Nodes that facilitates the introduction of EBRAINS tools into their respective scientific, medical, and industrial markets. The UPM Innovation team already provides EBRAINS with market intelligence and scanning of technological emerging developments worldwide. UPMs experience is based on the extensive work carried out over past years on innovation and technology transfer, which are activities that require identification and interaction with numerous start-ups, SMEs and MNCs. In parallel, the UPM can provide national nodes with guidelines for technological exploitation, deliver IP advice to the national members to commercially exploit their results through EBRAINS, and elaborate market watch analysis studies. UPM skills are as well crucial for implementing specific EBRAINS incubating programs. Together with the EBRAINS Education team the UPM can make possible cooperation between companies - which usually have unsolved clinical or neurotechnology needs - and students, whose ability and creativity can be crucial to address those industrial and clinical needs with EBRAINS tools. Competing for industrial scholarships might indeed promote industry-academy collaboration and become an effective way to visualize EBRAINS tools to young and future users.
