Overview

The EBRAINS Greek node is led by Athena Research Center (Full EBRAINS member), with more members joining in the coming months. The node aims to serve as a point of reference for neuroscientists from all academic and research organisations in Greece.

The node will enhance the technical capabilities of Greek researchers and will integrate significant scientific contributions from leading Greek research groups. It will serve as a basis for the first National Research Infrastructure focused on computational brain research and neuroscience.

Services offered

The EBRAINS Greek node aims to empower the entire community in Greece and to make it an integral part of the larger EBRAINS ecosystem, so that Greece enjoys the significant benefits of this unprecedented initiative while at the same time contributing to it with its own human resources, scientific excellence, and valuable data. 

It will provide tools developed by Greek research groups globally, contributing to advancements in drugs, diagnoses, and preventive measures for neuro-psychiatric disorders at national and European level.

The node will continue and strengthen its role as leading the overall architecture, technical coordination, delivery, and operations of EBRAINS RI. In parallel, the node will offer several core user-facing services such as the scientific workflow engine and Medical Informatics Platform (MIP), while it will incorporate and showcase notable tools from the Greek neuroscientific community focusing on drug design, as well as advanced brain modeling and simulation.
