National Node
Italy
Overview
The EBRAINS Italian National Node (EINN) is coordinated by the National Research Council (CNR), serving as the Node Lead Partner and a Full Member of AISBL EBRAINS. It collaborates with several universities and, through various national initiatives and ongoing projects, engages multiple research centers across the country. EINN is empowered to provide a comprehensive range of neuroscientific services, including data and modelling, analysis and simulation tools, training and education programs, as well as incubation and acceleration initiatives. Additionally, it aims to offer new, technologically advanced services to both users and enterprises.
Services offered
The first service package available in EINN includes the following options:
- Light-Sheet Fluorescence Microscopy (LSFM), from the European Laboratory of Non-Linear Spectroscopies (LENS), Sesto Florentino, Florence
- Brain Modeling Hub, from the University of Pavia (UNIPV)
- Hippocampus Hub, from the Institute of Biophysics of CNR (CNR-IBF), Palermo
- Infrastructure services from CINECA, Bologna
Services onboarding
EINN foreseen to expand its own service offer and incrementally integrate other valuable services that match its mission and vision. For this goal EINN is working in synergies with the national research infrastructure network Ebrains-Italy to develop an Incubator/Acceleration service, provided by the Ebrains-Italy consortium coordinated by CNR-IBF, Palermo.
The Ebrains-Italy consortium facilitates clinical, pharmacological, and experimental activities in healthcare by leveraging advanced technologies in neuroscience, including modeling, computation, and data analysis. Ebrains-Italy fosters collaboration among researchers, promotes data sharing, and supports the development of innovative solutions while also providing educational initiatives such as the EBRAINS Training and Innovation Centre and the Advanced School in Computational Neuroscience and Neurorobotics. With numerous projects, facilities, and international engagements, it strengthens interdisciplinary research, enhances enterprise competitiveness, and drives new collaborations in neuroscience.
