FAIR Data and openMINDS
How We Make Data FAIR
The FAIRness of data depends on the amount of information that is shared, the format in which it is shared, and how easily it can be integrated and reused across different systems and contexts. Data shared through EBRAINS is curated to ensure GDPR compliance and to provide structured metadata. We rely on metadata schemas that describe how metadata relate to each other. EBRAINS has adopted the flexible, scalable and extendable openMINDS metadata framework. openMINDS is grounded in standardised terminologies and ontologies, increasing the interoperability of datasets, models and software in the EBRAINS Knowledge Graph (KG) and with resources outside of the EBRAINS research infrastructure. openMINDS is continuously developing to accommodate curation-specific needs for various research areas.
openMINDS openMINDS Metadata Initiative
The well annotated metadata is integrated in the EBRAIN KG. The KG is a semantic network that integrates data, models, and software to connect knowledge across modalities and link them to analysis, visualization, and computational tools. Data on EBRAINS KG can be extracted via several ways that are tailored to the ability and the preference of the user. The intuitive search user interface (UI) enables researchers to easily refine their searches with faceted filters.
About the Knowledge Graph (KG) Search EBRAINS KG
Further, easy-to-use KG Query Builder UI allows users to define queries and collect just the metadata of interest. For advanced users, data and metadata can be accessed via an Application Programming Interface (API) compatible with many programming languages, enabling a versatile downstream implementation of search queries.
