From 1 December 2025, visitors to the EBRAINS website will enjoy an improved and more intuitive user experience. The revamped website features clearer navigation and a modern design that makes it easier to explore everything EBRAINS has to offer. A new sitemap includes new branches with a plethora of new subpages addressing different target audiences.
Improved Navigation
To make it easier for visitors to find what they are looking for, our restructured sitemap has entry points for different audiences and for a more user-friendly experience for all. The new menu is interactive and opens into a mega menu that gives an overview of up to three levels of subpages. The new menu provides quick access to EBRAINS’ data, tools and services by showing a clear overview of all infrastructure categories and their subsections. EBRAINS users will be able to get to their subsection of interest with only one click. To further guide visitors, every subpage now displays a breadcrumb menu that provides an overview of the path within the sitemap.
A New Look and Feel
A major highlight of the new EBRAINS website is a fresh, modern and clear user interface. The updated design is a focused, visually attractive, and functionally optimised evolution of the EBRAINS brand world, as part of which the EBRAINS logo has also been refined whilst retaining the recognisable corporate identity with only a slight adjustment of the colour palette. The new website features a higher number of images making it easier to visualise the diversity of the cutting-edge research that EBRAINS is facilitating and bringing it closer also to our external audiences. To better reflect the distributed and pan-European nature of EBRAINS, the pages on EBRAINS members and on national nodes now include interactive maps highlighting the represented countries.
A Restructured Sitemap with New Sections to Discover
A major feature of the new EBRAINS website is the new sitemap that has been restructured with entirely new branches addressing different audiences. The new sitemap has been designed with the aim of creating different entry points for specific target audiences by clustering the information into five top headings. The “About” section, which provides general information and overviews for a broad audience, contains a new branch introducing the EBRAINS AISBL.
In the “Data, Tools & Services” section (previously called “Infrastructure”), EBRAINS users can find what EBRAINS has to offer in six main categories that have been restructured following the start of the EBRAINS 2.0 project.
The new ”Impact“ section is targeted at external stakeholders including decision-makers from science and politics, funders and industry representatives. Here, visitors can find an overview of the different projects and initiatives that EBRAINS is involved in, a new list of publications that can be filtered by project, and an entire new section on industrial engagement. The Impact branch also contains a new section called „EBRAINS in Use“ that provides external stakeholders with concrete, and real-world examples of how the infrastructure actually benefits researchers. The research community can learn about how to become part of EBRAINS in the „Participate“ section.
A further major highlight is the News & Events section that now contains separate formats for news and events to provide a more structured and chronological overview of the most recent news and upcoming events. Journalists and other media representatives may now find press releases, a press kit and points of contact in a new, dedicated Media section.
