EBRAINS has endorsed the Joint Declaration on Advancing Neurological Health, adding its support to the call for coordinated European action on neurological health during Ireland's Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Neurological conditions are among the leading causes of disability and premature death in the EU, affecting millions of people and placing a growing burden on patients, families, healthcare systems and economies. The Declaration calls on Ireland to champion the development of a comprehensive EU Neurological Health Strategy, foster discussion among Member States, and work with the European Parliament and European Commission to advance coordinated policy action across Europe.

The Declaration was launched by the organisations behind Neurology at the Forefront of Innovation in Knowledge Based Healthcare and Research Across Europe, an official Associated Event of Ireland's EU Presidency held on World Brain Day, 22 July 2026.

By endorsing the Declaration, EBRAINS joins a growing coalition of European and Irish neurological organisations—including patient groups, professional bodies and research organisations—in making neurological health a strategic policy priority for the EU.
