EBRAINS joins the European Partnership for Brain Health to support research infrastructure coordination
EBRAINS has joined the European Partnership for Brain Health (EP BrainHealth) as an associate partner, contributing its expertise in digital research infrastructure to one of the largest brain health initiatives worldwide.
The Partnership, co-funded by the European Commission, launched on 1 January 2026 and will run for ten years with a total planned budget of approximately €500 million.
EP BrainHealth brings together over 55 partner institutions from more than 30 countries, united by a shared vision of improving brain health for everyone. The initiative aims to strengthen transnational collaboration, align investments in brain health research and innovation, and promote the translation of research findings into accessible solutions for prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care of neurological and mental health conditions.
Two funding calls now open
The Partnership has launched its first two Joint Transnational Calls, both with a submission deadline of 10 March 2026. Call 1 focuses on neurological, mental and sensory disorders, while Call 2 addresses neurodegenerative disorders. Both calls seek proposals that examine biological, social, and environmental factors that affect brain health across the lifespan.
EBRAINS’ role in research infrastructure coordination
Within the Partnership, EBRAINS leads activities on standardisation and harmonisation of data, in cooperation with European research infrastructures. This includes mapping and linking existing research infrastructures with EP BrainHealth’s objectives, building researcher capacity to utilise these resources, and promoting data sharing and standardisation across platforms.
"We are delighted to join the European Partnership for Brain Health as an associate partner", says Philippe Vernier, Joint-CEO of EBRAINS. "The aims of the project align with our values as a Research Infrastructure; namely, to accelerate collaborative brain research, enable cutting-edge research and innovation, and translate these insights into tangible benefits for society."
