Trygve Leergaard steps up to chair the EBRAINS National Node Board (NNB), to coordinate activities and services provided by EBRAINS National Nodes and support the operation and development of the EBRAINS research infrastructure.
Leergaard obtained a MD at the University of Leiden, The Netherlands, in 1996, and a PhD in Neuroscience at the University of Oslo in 2000, combining axonal tract tracing and 3D reconstruction techniques to study spatial organizing patterns in brain stem neural networks. As a co-PI of the Neural Systems Laboratory at the University of Oslo, he has contributed to the development of the EBRAINS Data & Knowledge services and rodent brain atlas services as part of the Human Brain Project and EBRAINS 2.0. As partner in the Norwegian Brain Initiative (NORBRAIN), and head of the Norwegian EBRAINS node, he coordinates the establishment of workflows for organizing and sharing advanced structural and functional experimental data via EBRAINS.
“I look forward to aligning activities across the EBRAINS nodes towards our common goal of developing EBRAINS as a sustainable infrastructure for neuroscience.”
Chair of the EBRAINS National Node Board
“Prof. Leergaard has made substantial contributions to EBRAINS, in particular through the Rodent Brain Atlas services, where he published a seminal paper together with Jan Bjaalie. I am delighted that he will now lead the National Node Board in coordinating the joint provision of services across the National Nodes, and their integration into the EBRAINS research infrastructure.”
