EBRAINS at BAM! Brain & Music Festival 2024
We are excited to be a partner of the BAM! Brain & Music Festival, which is organised with the support of the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2024. It will explore the impact of music on the brain with lectures and musical activities aimed at scientists, musicians, students and the wider public.
The event will bring together over forty internationally recognised scientists, as well as health experts and musicians, who will share their knowledge in highly accessible formats. Attendees will have the opportunity to take part in:
Meetings with specialists who will share their experiences
“Music at Work" concerts, combining musical performances and explanations
Debates on current musical issues: in schools, hospitals, retirement homes etc.
On Thursday 21 March, at 16h00, Prof. Viktor Jirsa, Director of the Inserm Institut de Neurosciences des Systèmes at Aix-Marseille-Université, France, and EBRAINS AISBL Chief Science Officer will give a presentation on how digital twins, computer models personalised to individual patient brains, could contribute to our better understanding of brain function and could optimise treatment strategies for brain disorders. He will also discuss how the EBRAINS Research Infrastructure aims to address these challenges, while encouraging global collaboration.
Event attendees will also have the opportunity to explore the Human Brain Project (HBP) image exhibition. A range of scientific images will be displayed, including detailed photographs, digital renderings, and 3D simulations. The brain research displayed here was funded by the European Flagship Human Brain Project and powered by the EBRAINS research infrastructure. Prof. Jirsa will take participants on a free guided tour of the exhibition on 21 March at 18h00 in the patio area.
