14 Nov 2022EBRAINS welcomes Lithuanian University of Health Sciences as new associate member
EBRAINS is pleased to announce that Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LUHS) – the largest institution of higher education in biomedical sciences in Lithuania – has joined the EBRAINS AISBL as an associate member.
The membership went into effect on 1 September 2022. It will give LUHS the opportunity to co-design future iterations of EBRAINS’ cutting-edge tools and services. These state-of-the-art capabilities – which cover data sharing, atlasing, modelling, simulation, high-performance computing, and neurorobotics – aim to help European researchers to address major challenges in brain health, benefiting from insights into data science, brain organization, and artificial intelligence gathered from the EU Flagship Human Brain Project.
The Lithuanian University of Health Sciences in Kaunas, Lithuania, is one of the best and largest institutions of higher education for biomedical sciences in the Baltic States with almost 100 years of academic and scientific tradition. The infrastructure for the brain sciences at LUHS unites the Neuroscience Institute, Department of Neurosurgery, Department of Neurology, Department of Psychiatry at the Hospital of LUHS, and Department of Health Psychology. The Neuroscience Institute at LUHS is dedicated to the basic, applied, and clinical research in neuroinformatics, molecular neurobiology, biochemistry, neurophysiology, neurooncology, neuropsychology and behavioral medicine. The LUHS Hospital ‘Kauno klinikos’ is the largest hospital in the Baltic States: it has 39 departments devoted to all medical and surgical specialties, employs more than 1200 physicians and 2300 nurses, the annual number of outpatient consultations exceeds 1.3 million visits and 94 000 hospital admissions.
